Bolster: Why is traditional search broken?
Sydney: Traditional executive search is broken because it doesn't typically get the job done well—it’s costly from a time and monetary perspective, and utilizes antiquated methods that don’t always uncover the best person for the role.
B: How do you think about finding the perfect candidates for a position?
S: Listen, listen, listen. No matter how much you know about an industry and/or function, it’ll never replace the knowledge and insight that you gain from listening to a client talk about their needs and wants for a specific role. It’s our job to be the experts, to help guide the client and the search, but it’s also our job to listen.
