Wrapping Up Season 4 of The Daily Bolster

February 13, 2025

A couple of weeks ago, we wrapped up the fourth and final season of The Daily Bolster podcast. The podcast has given us the unique opportunity to connect with and learn from a wide variety of business leaders, investors, and operators. This season was particularly special, because we got to hear from members of Bolster’s team, as well! We’re sharing some of our biggest takeaways from listening to their expertise.

A shared sense of urgency is key to a successful talent partnership.

When it comes to building strong partnerships, getting—and staying—on the same page is crucial. Christine Berg emphasized the importance of shared goals and clear communication for all parties involved in an executive search.

There’s something to learn in every situation.

When a candidate drops out of a search, where do you go from there? Sydney Thompson Caraway shared her insights on what clients can learn from the situation and what happens next.

The right preparation can make or break an executive search.

Patti Dorsey shared her tips for an efficient executive search—and it starts with a clearly defined interview process. Making the search a priority and having everyone your team on the same page is crucial to success.

Look for impact to measure success.

Martha Kaser shared how she makes the most of the first interview with a candidate. One of her biggest tips? Look for the tangible impact they’ve had in the workplace.

You have to sell executive candidates on your business.

Bolster CEO Cathy Hawley highlighted that hiring executive talent is a unique endeavor. You’re looking for someone with the right skills and experience, yes, but you also need someone who will buy into and pursue your organization’s vision and goals.

It’s important to pay attention to every function in the organization.

CFOs may not be revenue generators, Sarah Auten acknowledged, but they can be cost savers—making a huge difference in the overall health and success of your business. Sarah talked about why it’s important to consider these foundational roles in the big picture of your organization.

Working with an executive search firm extends your network.

When it’s time to kick off an executive search, many leaders prefer to start by DIYing the process. Jon Peters explained why that doesn’t typically offer the best results and talked about what an executive search firm brings to the table, from knowledge of the market to a wider network and access to passive candidates.

When you work with Bolster, our extraordinary team will work alongside you to make your search a success. We take the time to listen, understand, and respond to your needs, support you throughout your search, and offer our expertise as a resource.
